THE SHUNAMMITE FAITH

“When the man of God saw her coming, he said to Gehazi his servant, “Look, there is the Shunammite woman; run at once to meet her, and say to her, Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is the child all right?” She answered, “It is all right” 2 kings 4:25b-26

This Shunammite woman is indeed a woman of Faith! Reading her story from the previous chapters will make you understand who she was and what happened that she came out looking for Prophet Elisha.

In actual sense, her son and only child is dead. She lied him in the upper room where Prophet Elisha used to stay as guest in her house whenever he passed by, and she did not want to accept the loss of her child.

It was through prophesied word of Prophet Elisa that this woman had her son. She was once a barren woman and she was rich. Now she was privileged to be a mother, and she lived with that joy until tragedy struck.

Once day, the child complained of head pain then died afterward. To everybody in that household, the child was dead and that’s over.

But his mother, this Shunammite woman, was just different. She saddled her donkey and went searching for Prophet Elisha. She strong believed deep down her heart that if she meets him, her son will be restored to her.

And that’s the questions in the above verses that Prophet Elisha asked when he sighted her from above.

If it is another woman, maybe her response would have been ‘you gave me a son now, he is dead. Why did you bother giving me initially when you know he will not live long?’
Instead, the Shunammite woman replied “it is all right” another version of the Bible says “It is well” 2 Kings 4:26

Do you have anything special you want from God? Maybe you need to stand your feet like this woman and maintain your confession of Faith, knowing well that God will surely keep His promises.

All you need it this kind of Shunammite Faith, the God-given Faith that remains unbend no matter the circumstances.

Do not give up. If the Shunammite woman had given up, definitely she would not have gotten her son’s back. It was her faith that moved Prophet Elisa to intercede to God for her.
God brings back life into her child. And God will forever remain the same. He needs your Faith, your strong belief of His supremacy.

Just surrender your problems, your anxieties, your headaches, your debts, your sickness, your emptiness to Him, He will make you whole and gives you the best of life than you imagine.

Peace!
