“Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.” Ephesians 1:17NLT
Prior to Christmas, children announced to their parents the gifts they want. On Christmas Day, some of them are lucky to have what they asked for, while the unlucky ones ended up with the alternates. It is common in general that majorities are given exactly what they requested for.
In the same way, Christians ought to grasp the power of being detailed when asking God for something. It is incomplete to pray to God to provide a car. You need to tell Him the brand, colour and type of vehicle you require. Not doing this is enough to make you realise that you are likely to end up with a car that is far from your dream one. Do not blame God when you ended up with something else. You get what you asked for! It is not enough wanting something. What is important is taking spiritual and eventual responsibilities for your requests during your intercession.
Other vivid example is asking the Lord to give you a child. Okay. Fine, God has heard our prayers. Nevertheless, what kind of child did you ask for ? A girl or a male child? Do you want a child who will give you rest of mind and honour His creator throughout his life, or do you want a troublesome child? Often you wonder why your neighbour’s children are well-mannered, and yours are uncontrollable. Think back to when you were pregnant; did you intercede? If yes, what did you pray for?
Hannah, Prophet Samuel’s mother, prayed for a child who will serve God throughout his lifetime and she got it. She was direct! Her blunt prayer led her son into priesthood.
How about in the job sector. Are you unhappy with your current job because you don’t understand how you ended up with it in the first instance? Then again, think about the prayers you uttered regarding the line of work. That you are so desperate to acquire a job does not simply means asking God to provide you just any kind. You have to be clear about the type of job you desire.
God enjoys it when you ask Him for something. He will grant you anything you ask for unless He sees that what you so desire will not bring Him glory or is not the appropriate kind that you need. Even so, He will not compel you to be exact in your request. This is completely up to you.
Be specific in your petitions to God for whatever divine intervention and you will enjoy a rich relationship with God as well as save yourself lots of headaches.
