God Says — & — I Do

“God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.” – Exodus 3:14

I tried to imagine this day, the day when God addressed Moses at the burning bush. I could see Moses still fighting with his faith. I could imagine him stammering, and wondering how he would be able to carry out the tasks.

When you read the entire Chapter, from where God met Moses to where God began to address Moses, you will understand what Moses went through.

For Moses to be convinced that God would go with him in this assignment, Moses asked so many questions. First, Moses hid his face the moment he knew God is before him (Exodus 3:6b)

The first question Moses posed was, whom he (Moses) was that God should come to choose him to rescues Israel from Egypt? (Exodus 3:11)

Despite God’s spoken words, Moses could not accepted this offer, thus he pressed further in Exodus 3:13, showing God his doubts. Moses had already concluded the Israelites wouldn’t listen to him, when he (Moses) had not even carried out God’s assignment.

Many of us have trouble getting our prayers answered because we doubt so much, just like Moses. We asked unnecessary questions from God that we are not supposed to. I mean, irrelevant ones that are total useless.

When God send us on assignment, we don’t have to carry on the image of doubting Moses, and start telling God not to use us. If we were not capable of God’s work, then He (God) wouldn’t have come to us.

He chooses us because He knows we are able.

Moses wanted to know God’s name. It was not as if he has no idea who God is but Moses was just confused, then. He wanted more convictions concerning the assignment God was about giving him. Moses would have done anything to know more about God, and he would have asked more question, which he did later on.

And God must prove His name and His supremacy, and that’s what He did in Exodus 3:14 when He declared His name to Moses.

People change, they no longer remain the way they were many years back BUT God never change. His name is I AM THAT I AM and it means He is the supernatural, unchangeable, incomparable God.

My message is, you must not doubt God. Avoid being like Moses. He asked four questions at interval and nearly provoked God’s anger. It pays to just obey God. When God says ‘GO’, then go!  The Lord who sends you will take care of you.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. He is your God and He changes not. He is forever on your side and for this, you have no need to panic, to doubt or to give chance to useless questions.

Remember, God, the — I AM THAT I AM will not let His name be ridiculed.
